The SCA Roasting Skills Foundation & Intermediate ideal for a learner who wishes to fast-tracked his or her learning about coffee roasting in a commercial application. In the three-day course, a learner will be able to gain a deep understanding of roast profiling, roast color matching, roast development, between batch protocols, as well a the sensory expression of different roast profiles. Learners will further explore the physical and chemical changes as well as basic thermodynamics and heat transfer that occurs during the roast. Thereafter there will be a review of safety and maintenance protocols in the roasting facilities.
There will be a practical exam at the end of third day to assess the learner’s ability to roast correctly and remove the coffee at the correct color using a reference, while accurately completing the roast log form.

Course Length: 21 hours (3 Training Days)
Prerequisites: SCA Barista Foundation/Brewing Foundation recommended
Course Hours on Each Training Day : 10.00 am to 5.00 pm
